Summer 2008 Newsletter
Update from June Picnic Meeting
The club's summer picnic and meeting was held Sunday, June 22nd at Mel and Carol Klein's, Clearwater, MN. A total of 43 members attended the picnic and meeting, including board members Wes Nelson, Harold Pramann, Gene Loxtercamp, Donny Montag and Roy Molitor, and queen, Amanda Wolbeck. The following was discussed:
Web Site - The technical updates have been made and the site is now working well.
Flag - A review of the approved flag design included a more precisely lettered club logo. The 3' x 5' flag (red background with club logo), along with an 8' pole and brass stand is estimated to cost $297. Club directors will order the flag.
Archive Photos - Mary Lou Sinnen and her daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Jim Winings, donated Claude Sinnen's photos from previous draft events to the club. Photos will be on display at the winter 2009 meeting.
Field Day - September 27 - Mark your calendars!
- Hilary and Marion Brunner's Belgrade location includes a nice hillside that will provide a great place for everyone to view the various activities.
- Potatoes and corn are in and have been cultivated. It has been a wet and cold spring, but crops are coming along.
- Raffle tickets and Field Day flyers were available to be picked up (with the rest to be mailed with newsletter).
- A Belgian filly, born April 14th, has been purchased for $500 for the raffle. The filly will be at the Stearns County Fair to help promote raffle sale. (The filly's sire is a grandson of "Kory's Captain")
Draft Horse Raffle: All raffle tickets and money collected should be mailed back to Joann Holthaus in time for the September 27th drawing or turned in at the booth at the field day. Send to Joann Holthaus, Box 232, Richmond, MN 56368. ALL UNSOLD TICKETS MUST ALSO BE RETURNED TO JOANN. It is a legal requirement of raffles that all tickets be accounted for. Thank you!
2009 Field Day Information: The location for the 2009 event will be at Gene Loxtercamp's in Sauk Center. Anyone interested in hosting the event for 2010, please contact one of the board members.

Membership Renewal: If the date on your mailing label on your envelope says FEB 2008, it is time for you to renew. Membership renewal is $5.00 per year. For new members, it is $10.00 for the first year and the $5.00 thereafter. Send your renewal request along with your dues to Joann Holthaus, Box 232, Richmond, MN 56368.
