Update from Annual Meeting
The club’s Annual Banquet and Meeting was held Sunday February 24, 2008, at The Landing in St Anna. Dinner was served at 12 noon followed by the 1 pm business meeting. The weather was nice (a bit foggy) and 160 members attended (based on 160 dinner tickets sold). Door prizes and desserts were brought by club members. Three directors ended their terms -- thank you to Mel Klein, Louis Schaefer and Keith Wolbeck for their hard work, leadership and service.
Elections for the open directors’ positions for 2008 and 2009 were held. The three new directors are:
Gene Loxtercamp, Sauk Centre; Roy Molitor, Sauk Rapids; and Donny Montag, Foley.
Four 2008-2009 NMDHA Queen candidates were nominated: Portia Hollerman, Jamie Nelson, Megan Welle and Amanda Wolbeck. After the voting, 2007-08 Queen, Amanda Schaefer crowned Amanda Wolbeck of St. Joseph as new club queen. Congratulations, Amanda.
Wes again thanked Harold and Alana Pramann for hosting the 2007 Field Day event. He reported that some in the club sold over 100 tickets for the foal raffle. Thanks to Dick McCoy, Mel Klein, Bernie Klejeski and those selling tickets at the Stearns County Fair.
Hilary and Marion Brunner from Belgrade are hosting this year’s Spring Plow Days (a members-only event). See the Club Events listing for details. Hilary and Marion will also be hosting the 2008 Fall Field Day.
2007 Field Day DVD’s (a 1 hour, 50 minute DVD narrated by Mel and Gene) are available. If interested in purchasing a copy, contact Mel Klein (320-250-0946) or Gene Loxtercamp (320-987-3254). DVD’s are $20.
Club Flag: The vote at the annual meeting was in favor of a club flag. Design/price proposals may be sent to President, Wes Nelson. The directors will select the best option by the spring picnic.
2008 Field Day Information: The date for our 2008 Northern Minnesota Draft Association Field Day is Saturday September 27th to be held near Belgrade at Hilary and Marion Brunner’s farm. As this will be a one-day event we will not be checking Coggins papers. The location for the 2009 event will be at Gene Loxtercamp’s in Sauk Centre. Anyone interested in hosting the event for 2010, please contact one of the board members identified above under our club logo.
We are again looking for a draft horse filly foal that can be registered for our raffle. We will accept a colt if no filly can be found. If you have one that you would like to offer for purchase, let us know. We would like to have a foal in time for the Stearns County Fair in Sauk Centre. Having this foal at the fair really draws in people to sell our raffle tickets.
